Relatively small (compared to their forerunners in Giza) pyramids of four Abusir kings give very little incentive to suppose that their builders played a major role in the history of Egypt. The Sixth Dynasty marked the final stage in the history of the Old Kingdom resulting in a steady decline of the central administration, the state's ability to direct and execute the policy of the Residence in the provinces, and the general failure of the redistribution of goods.
